This year’s Morning Madness Fashion Show was held on March 2nd in the Long Beach High School auditorium. The fashion show gives the seniors a chance to raise money for after-prom activities at Dave and Busters by modeling formalwear. The Clothing was loaned to the students by multiple places, including Estelle’s of Farmingdale, Frock of Long Beach, Bridal Reflections of Carle Place and The Bridal World of Baldwin. The Morning Madness Committee Chairs Randi Andosca, Linda Birnbaum, Betsy Glazer, Rhonda Healy, and Gina Knauer all made sure the night would be unforgettable.
Before the show, The Outback Steakhouse provided dinner. The first half of the show was hosted by Seniors Krystal Carrasquillo and Geoffrey Noss. The second half of the show was hosted by Matt Shouldis and Kadee Medrano. Noss was a little nervous going up on stage to present the names of the students, but enjoyed it as well. "It was a wonderful experience and I wish that more students would have done it."
The show was a hit as the Class of 2011 strutted their stuff down the catwalk. Ms. Maria Perrone choreographed the show, and music teacher Mr. Bruce Kaplan provided music by playing the piano as the students walked out onto the stage.
This year’s Fashion Show raised money so that the students that attend after-prom have the chance to win a laptop computer or a brand new car-- all because they attend a safe, fun-filled night.
The Morning Madness Fashion Show was started by Joy Caine and Leslie Schuster in 1991 so that the seniors could have a safe, fun filled night after prom. The event helps prevent teens from being in unsafe and harmful environments and also from drinking and driving on prom night. The night includes raffle prizes and appreciation awards.
The seniors enjoyed their night as they got dressed up for a cause. Senior Jill Lowenfels had an excellent time and said it was something that she had never experienced before and it gave all of the seniors a chance to get to know one another a little better before they graduate. "It was a bonding experience."
