MHS Cardinals Hit of the 2011 baseball season
As cleats go on their feet, gloves fit onto their hands, and the grip around the bat tightens, MHS baseball athletes are ready to take a full swing at the start of a new baseball season. This unique team is made up of mostly juniors, a couple of sophomores, a handful of freshmen and a lone senior. Our Varsity boys are currently in the Gunter/Prosper Tournament while Junior Varsity is in the Dodd City Tournament that both began March 3 and end March 5.
Tuesday evening, the Melissa faced Caddo Mills on their first district game. The Cardinals put a whooping on the Foxes taking home the win 10-1. Camden Duzenack was very satisfied with the team. He said “ Landon Wilson did great on the mound, while our defense was very sharp. The whole team is playing well.” His expectations for the rest of the season were to “definitely win district and go further past last year’s playoff mark.” “The team that will put up the greatest challenge will be Cooper. They are definitely a play off team.”
The Dr. Pepper Ballpark located in Frisco is the next destination for the baseball team. They will be facing off against the Sunnyvale Raiders on March 15th and on March 18th, the cardinals baseball team will be playing the Rivercrest Rebels.
