Brooke Cole, known for her determination and independence, is rounding up high school in Granger and headed off to greater places.
Cole is the daughter of Debbie and Maurice Cole. She has two older siblings, Jessica and Clint, and a younger sister, Macie, who attends Granger School as well.
“My family supports me in everything I do,” said Cole. “Their stability gives me the strength and desire to do my best.”
Her favorite teacher, Mrs. Reed, is like her second mom. According to Cole, Reed has helped her with more than just math problems.
“Mrs. Reed has always been there for me no matter what it is,” said Cole. “Words can’t explain how much she has helped me.”
Throughout her years at Granger School, Cole has participated in several sports and organizations. Among these is her favorite, basketball for which she received District Honorable Mention this year.
“I love the aggressiveness, power, and strength I have when I’m playing the game,” said Cole.
“Plus, it’s fun.” Not only does Cole play the sports, she also has been a cheerleader, supporting the football team for the last two years. “Brooke is the ultimate cheerleader,” said cheer sponsor Louise Thornton. “Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious.”
Besides basketball and cheer, this active senior played volleyball, softball and was involved in powerlifting, color guard, and track. Cole has also been her class vice president and a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and band.
“Being involved kept me busy and helped prepare me for the future,” said Cole.
After high school, Cole will be attending McLennen Community College in Waco on a Theatre Scholarship. After two years, she plans to transfer to Tarleton University.
“I've known Brooke literally since we were infants,” said Selina Innes. “I know she's going to do great things with her life.”
Because of her love and passion for the outdoors, Cole wants to study wildlife management and major in business. She hopes to someday becoming a wildlife educator.
“I love being outside and have always been around animals,” said Cole. “I feel this is the best area for me to pursue a career in.”
