Every year the Saint John the Baptist Middle School holds their annual Fusion Fair. This is a chance for the students, teachers, staff, and family members to learn about the amazing academics that the students have been working on.
This year the 6th grade students were given the opportunity to chose a country of their choice and research about it. Laura Mekelson researched about the country of Finland and said, “My favorite part about doing this project was, being able to make a creative poster and present it to everyone that came.” She also told us that the best thing to do when making a poster is to start early and not wait until the last minute. Our 7th grade students have been working on their science projects all year long and will be able to present and talk about their projects and new discoveries at the Fusion Fair. Some of these projects include researching about gravity, melting, pressure and all things in between. Our 7th Graders have covered it all and were so excited to share with others.
Lastly, our 8th Grade students have been researching about an era of their choice in which they wished they could go back in time and live in. These eras range from the Wild West, the Renaissance, and all the way up the 1970’s. “ I really enjoyed researching about the 1950s era. For everyone that will be doing this project I would recommend that you chose an era that really interests you. It will make your projects so much more fun”, said 8th grader Ann Nelson.
All of the students got to teach others about their country, science project or era, by creating a tri-fold presentation board. They were also given the option to bring in foods, clothing, music or anything else that will help others understand their projects. All of the students hard work was showcased on April 24, 2012 at the Fusion Fair.
