Christmas is celebrated differently in different countries. In Germany, Santa Claus is known as Christkind, who is an angel draped in a white veil and clothing who leaves gifts for the young children.

Greece celebrates Christmas by having the younger boys walk around towns singing carols on Christmas Eve. Christmas trees are uncommon in Greece, but instead a shallow wooden bowl with a sprig of basil and a small wooden cross are suspended over the bowl using a thin wire. Russians use Babushka, who is the spirit of an old woman that gives out gifts to the good children, and is well known. Feasts are also held in honor of the twelve apostles.

The people of Switzerland celebrate Christmas by ringing bells in homes and attending midnight services at churches. In Switzerland Santa Claus is known as Christkindli, who is the same figure as Christkind in Germany.
