April Fools comes around every year,
and every year there’s more stories to tell. Even around the world this day is
celebrated for its tricks and hoaxes. April Fools or All fools day is celebrated
in countries like Italy and France where children will put paper fish on each
others backs and yell “April fish!” Although April Fools isn’t a national
holiday, it is a worldwide tradition all the same to play pranks on your
neighbors.
At Anna High School, pranks are the
student’s specialty. Senior Adrienne Butcher pranked her friends on Facebook
into believing she was having some kind of rare medical condition. Not
something serious and deadly, but rare enough to get people’s attention. She
posted a picture of herself with a swollen abdomen and then posted another
picture with the caption stating “haha April Fools!” “I really like to trick
people or mess with people a lot, there doesn’t have to be a special holiday
for me to pull a few tricks from up my sleeve,” Butcher said. Senior Hunter
Kendall also posted his prank on Facebook with a status update saying, “Just
found out I’m moving to Missouri right before graduation..?” This was a hit
because everyone was commenting with panic and nervousness as to why Kendall
was leaving. Then the prank was realized when someone commented saying, “Nice
April Fools joke Hunter.” But needless to say, Kendall got the best of them.
April Fools day has been around for
many years, but the question to how it started still remains. Some believe it
is a celebration to the return of the seasons while others think it was the
time of the adoption of a new calendar. Regardless to how it started, the way
it is celebrated now remains the same all around the world. Getting a laugh by
having a friend run a “fools errand” or playing a joke on a relative. It’s all
laughs in the end.
