Asian Banana, Mississippi Mud, Cardamon Somalia, Red Velvet, and Butterfinger were just some of the cakes researched, planned, baked and frosted by the two Family and Consumer Science classes of Ms. McFadden of the Washington High School of Information Technology the last week in May.
Gathered in 6 work groups, 50 students, representing African American, Caucasian, Asian and African cultures, used 5 class periods to choose a cake recipe, set up a shopping list, mix, bake, frost, and present for judging their chosen sugary delight.
Based on teamwork, appearance, taste, and originality, a team of judges made up of WHSoIT staff members selected the first and second place winners.
And the winners were………………!
