The pretty picture Abby drew on the back of the kid's menu at Steak & Shake - Lauren Dublin
2:16: Finally out of
school. Gonna do some awesome cross-school sprinting from the Spanish rooms to
my locker to the Senior lot to Mr. Long’s room because he made this whole big
deal out of he wants to leave by 2:30 or else.
2:45: Leaving West.
It just took like 10 minutes to get the bus started because the car (bus?)
alarm kept going off. Apparently there was some latch in the back we were
supposed to be flipping or something. I don’t even know. We’re going to Jewel
because Mr. Long has to cash the checks from Lake Park and then we’re leaving.
3:15: Took the scenic
route to Jewel. It took another 10 minutes to turn off the bus. That was pretty sweet.
3:35: Leaving Jewel.
Mr. Long and Ms. Gordon for some reason thought it would be a good plan to
like, let us loose in the store so now we have Cheezits, cookies, and these
super awesome Pringles that taste like wings. I don’t even want to think about
how unhealthy they are but…Also, there’s like, gross mystery Chapstick rolling
around the bus. Mr. Long is lost.
"Are we on Army Trail right now?" "Yeah."
"...Oh." We have to go back to West because apparently the
April issue of the Perspective didn’t send to the people that print it so we
have to go back and resend it.
3:45: Back at West. It’s
probably going to be another 10 minute process to turn off the bus.
3:55: Leaving West. Abby
& Olivia tried to teach me how to put my hair up in a bun because somehow I
got the really really really short end of the Ability to do One’s Hair & Makeup stick. It looks
passable. I’ll probably never ever be able to do this ever again but it looks
okay for right now. I feel a lot more accomplished than I should.
5:40: So we’ve been
driving for what, like 2 hours, and it’s been like, completely silent the whole
entire time and nothing but cornfields. I guess I can’t talk about cornfields
considering where I’m going to school next year but SILENCE.
5:45: Stopping for
dinner. Mr. Long kept talking about this Amish place he wanted to go to at
layout yesterday but we’re just at some random truck stop because he couldn’t
find said Amish place because of the 355 extension or something.
6:40: Back from
dinner. Small towns are really awkward. Everyone just stared the entire time
because we were from out of town. Good times. Also, Abby wanted me to tell you
that Olivia “makes her chest hurt with funny.”
7:10: So it’s still
cornfields.
8:20: So I’m about
95% sure we just passed the hotel and the McDonald’s at the red light we’re at
right now has the creepiest Ronald McDonald statue in the history of ever.
Also, there’s a Steak & Shake right
next to our hotel. Me gusta.
Sometime between 8:30
and 10:30: Mr. Long touched the gross Mystery Chapstick. Got to our rooms,
Olivia volunteered to sleep on the couch, and then Ms.Gordon came over and knocked on
the door and was like, “NO DON’T TOUCH THE BEDS!” And came in and like, took
out her phone and was shining the light all over the bed and was like, “DECA
had bedbugs at the hotel they stayed at we have to check!!!!” It was funny. You
probably had to be there. But the room is actually really nice, we were going
to go to the pool but there’s like ten million people down there so we didn’t. Pretty
much every single person at this hotel is going to State tomorrow. So we’re
going to Steak & Shake and then maybe we’ll go back to the pool but they
have a big sign on the door that says if it’s after 10 you have to be over 21
so.. Also, Abby was trying to text her friend Ryan that their friend Nathan
likes a girl but she accidentally sent it to Mr. Long instead.
Sometime after Steak
& Shake: Abby drew a lovely picture on the back the kid’s menu with the
pens that Ms. Gordon found in her purse. It’s lovely. Also, the Sharpie I ended
up with bled through onto the table. Oops. The entire time we were at Steak and
Shake, Abby, Olivia and Ms. Gordon were plotting to set me up with the guy I
like. Somehow this always ends up being a topic of conversation at layout.
Apparently it’s no different at State. Ms. Gordon’s threatening to give us both
detentions even though he has no idea who she is and I don’t even have her for
a teacher and then she’s going to be like, “NOW SPEAK.” Let’s talk about how
excited I am for that. (Notice lack of excitedness.)
10:50: So Olivia’s
playing me on Draw Something and it’s probably like, really unfair considering
my stick people come out crooked in the first place and I’m trying to currently
draw “Bestie!” How one draws Bestie with 4 colors & on a touch screen is
beyond me. Sorry Olivia.
10:55: And now my
Draw Something options are xbox, android, and I don’t remember what the third
one was but it was equally impossible. I hate this game haha. So we have to be
in the lobby tomorrow at 8:30 for breakfast so we’ll start this again tomorrow.
