After being the nation’s leading rusher with 2,434 yards his
senior year at Vallivue High and scoring 38 times in his 2006 and 2007 season, Drew
Wright went on to play College Football at Boise State University. Wright got
the opportunity to score his first touchdown when BSU was leading by 18 points ahead
of Toledo University. He did just that with a 43-yard drive. Wright rushed five
times for 29 yards and punched it in for an 8-yard touchdown. Wright said. “I
had my chances before, and my mentality this year was to finish when I get that
chance again, so it felt pretty great to accomplish that.”
Wright currently
has 22 carries for 122 yards in six games. So far he’s made a bigger impact on
the special team’s squad with 14 tackles in 11 games. However he’s fortunate to
be a member of the 5th ranked team in the NCAA. He grew up watching Boise
State, early on he told his father that one day he’ll wear the blue and orange.
With two full seasons left to go, Wright should have a few
more chances to get into the end zone. Quarterback Kellen Moore said. “He’s
good, He doesn’t get as many opportunities as he deserves, but that’s the way
our running back crew is. When he gets those opportunities, he’s going to make
the most of it.” Head coach Peterson said he will be getting many more
opportunities to carry the ball and he has high expectations for him.
