Baka Beyond is an Afro-Celtic dance band. Afro-Celtic music is defined as “uplifting dance music that crosses boundaries between age, race & culture”. (bakabeyond.com) Martin Cradick founded the band after a 3-month visit to Cameroon with his wife Su Hart. Baka Beyond incorporates musicians from six different countries including Senegal, Brittany, Sierra Leone, and Ghana. Baka Beyond released their first album “Spirit of the Forest” in 1993. Since then the band has released ten albums to date. Their 11th album hasn’t been officially released, but it is available for download. Baka Beyond is a very big supporter and contributor to the Global Music Exchange. The Global Music Exchange is a charity helping indigenous people themselves through music. Luckily for our small little town, Baka Beyond will be playing at the Juan De Fuca Festival of the Arts. Check out other artists at jffa.org
