Guns and Roses is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1985. The classic lineup, who signed to Geffen Records in 1986, consisted of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. Their first album “Appetite for Destruction” reached number one on the charts with the main hit “Sweet Child of Mine”. After the release of their second and third album “Use Your Illusion” and “Use Your Illusion II” respectively which were also chart toppers, the band came to a crashing end while touring.
Lead guitarist Slash and vocalist Axl got in a feud which led to the whole band taking Slashes side and them all leaving the band.
Since the band name was under Axl’s name he got to keep the name and replace the members.
The members that left the original band formed a new band, Velvet Revolver, with lead singer Scott Wieland from the “Stone Temple Pilots”. They had one album “Contraband” that was high on the charts and had some success, but not nearly as much as the original Guns and Roses.
Rumor has it that Guns and Roses is getting back together.
When Axl was touring with Gun and Roses andthe replacement band players, a few of the original band members like Duff and Izzy came and played on the tour. They said the band is on the fringe of getting back together, but they are awaiting an apology from Axl and Slash to make reunion complete.
If they get back together one of the greatest rock bands of all time may be back in action.
