I Am Legend was one of the rare movies that people talked about over and over about having to see.

Starting Will Smith as Robert Neville, a virologist living in Manhattan, New York, he tries to find a cure for a deadly virus that had broken out in 2009. All by himself (and his trusty dog Sam) he wanders around by day looking for food and sending out radio signals, and by night cooped up in his basement frantically studying to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus by use of his own blood. In the end he and his companion canine end up finding a cure, but sadly die.

The movie recreates Richard Matheson’s famous 1954 novel of the same name, and the 1964 film titled The Last Man on Earth. Warner Bros. started developing the latest version of the post-apocalyptic film in 1994. I Am Legend was directed by Francis Lawrence and was released in 2007.

Though it sounded like a really good movie before it was released in December 14, 2007, the seemed-to-be “scary movie” turned out to disappoint for a lot of viewers. Not me, though. The movie had a many good things about it, such as the drama and action.

The thing that was most disappointing was the poor CGI that made the movie seem fake and too much like a copy of The Mummy. The infected during the movie seem to look unfinished and poorly made in a rush kind of a way.

For a movie that everyone was really excited about, from my point of view, it did turn out to be a good movie, except some parts that I thought shouldn’t be in it, or possibly better worked with. The film had its ups and downs. I think that the people who worked on this film should have taken a little more time for detail and realistic scenes.

I do recommend the people do see this movie, though. It is still one of those kinds of movies that will make you hold your breath. It has humor, sadness, action, and drama through out the whole film. Though it does have bad CGI and unnecessary parts to it, it should be watch based on the plot and not how it looks. Who knows? Maybe it could tell of what will happen some day in the future.

This movie was released on December 14, 2007, and is now on DVD. It can pretty much be bought at any market these days. To me, it is defiantly a movie to watch again.
