One would think that serious government leaders would take a break around New Year’s Eve, perhaps to spend some time counting down the minutes until twelve, but this year, they’d be wrong.
In the final hours of 2011, President Obama had one final action of the year--signing a bill called the National Defense Authorization Act, which will be effective through the end of 2012.
The NDAA allows the U.S. government to detain anyone it suspects to be a terrorist and hold them for an undefined amount of time without being allowed a fair trial of law.
The Act has received opposition from many, partially because part of our Constitution guarantees us a fair trial.
The talisman conducted of AP seniors, students that will be old enough to vote in our next presidential eletion, asking what they thought of the NDAA, if they had heard of it, and if it would affect their vote for President.
