At-a-glance

Last Friday, January 13, an explosion rocked the evening. It just happened to be just outside of the Kingfisher Kookers building where the blast blew out all the windows.

The explosion happened around 10:00 p.m. on Friday night. Several workers for D&K Oilfield were welding on a tank of a saltwater disposal truck when one of the sparks hit the gas tank and exploded the side of the truck. It took nine local fire fighters and two fire trucks to put out the fire.

Fire chief Randy Poindexter told the Kingfisher Times and Free Press “that no one was hurt in the explosion late Friday night” but there was some damage to the Kingfisher Kookers Showroom windows and several cars that were out front. Poindexter also told the news crews “it was amazing that no one got hurt.” Poindexter also said “he was surprised there was no damage to the other buildings near the explosion.”
