Friday the 13th was not a very lucky day for our volleyball team. They played against South Region #2 and unfortunately they lost in the first three sets.

The first set South Region won 25-8. They were able to control the game and gain the lead. In the first set it seemed like Rancho was going to give up and let South Region take the game, but that is not at all what happened.

In the second set Rancho came out fighting and managed to do a little better but in the end they lost this set 25-13. South Region began to spike the ball as much as they could and Ranchos defense could not stop all of those spikes. Even though the defense did block some of the spikes they were not able to block all of them.

Some teams might have given up at this point but Rancho did not and gave South Region a war in the third set. However despite Ranchos best efforts they lost this set 25-18. In this set Rancho started to dominate, quickly putting points in their favor, but by the end of the set South Region had caught up and was able to take the victory.

“Well not every game can be won. You lose and win, but we learn from our errors and continue to play the way we know how to play and practice hard to succeed,” said team captain Miguel Lopez.

Despite this loss Rancho went on to play POLA and won with an almost miraculous comeback from losing the first two sets. They also defeated New Millenium and made play-offs their first year.
