Every year, the senior class has a lot to participate in. A lot of time and money is spent, but is it worth it? On average, seniors spend over $1000.00 in just one year and that does not include multiple submissions to colleges. The $1000.00 doesn’t cover fun trips such as a choir trip or a trip with a foreign language club. It is ridiculous how much money seniors have to spend. With the cost of all of these, a student would have to work over 100 hours at a job paying minimum wage.

There is also so much pressure on seniors as they are the top of the totem pole of the school. We need to set an example by maintaining good grades, being a positive role model and being a leader. Some people in the school don’t feel that you are a leader if you are not involved, so it seems as if you have to have money to prove yourself as a leader. That is rather vindictive, especially if students are going to be judged because they can’t afford to do all of these activities. Even though the expense of a senior is so high, the experience of being in the Roosevelt Graduating Class of 2009 is priceless.
