All students may know him as “Q”, but to his opponents he may refer as “The Speed Demon”. Quincy McDuffie is a sprinter, a football player, and student here at the Eagles nest. McDuffie signed with the UCF Golden Knights last February. He will be a valuable asset because of his amazing speed. The way the track season ended some wonder if he will be the next Usain Bolt.

Quincy McDuffie suffered a back injury that kept him sidelined throughout the football season. He broke his L2 and L3 bone in his lower back. Although it kept him off the field during the football season it did not affect his performance during the track season. What kept him going throughout the track season although he wasn`t completely healthy?

“God, my team, and family, more importantly me knowing that is was my last year in high school to do track. So I wanted to finish strong, on a good note.

During the track season Quincy set personal best and state fourth best in state history when he ran 46.02 in the 400m at Lake Brantley Open. Also at the Lake Brantley Open he set personal best with the time of 20.9 in the 200m hurdle. The senior will surely be missed the next track season but hopefully we can get it through. When he leaves we hope the best for throughout his football career. His coach for four years, Coach Lowe, wants him to work hard and do the right thing. We wish him the best as he departs.
