Do you remember what you felt on the first day of high school? Well, freshman
coming to this school this year were more nervous than ever.
Ricardo Rodriguez, a freshman at DHS, said, “I was nervous coming to this
school because I did not know many people.”
Nicole Kingery, freshman, said, “I was most afraid of getting lost in this school
it is a very large place and being unfamiliar to it does not help.”
Being a freshman at Deltona High School is very difficult for some because
coming from some middle school thing are rather different. Middle school is smaller and
you are used to towering over people and being in control of a lot things coming from the
eighth grade. Most freshman at Deltona High School are afraid of either getting lost or
not knowing people or not being able to hang out with people out of their middle school
class.
Being at the bottom of the social ladder all over again is very difficult for some
students. What are they to look forward to? Some freshman think that they are going to
be bullied or tricked by the much larger upperclassmen. Some people think being a
freshman is not as hard as it sounds.
Bryce Tillerson, freshman, said, “I was not afraid of anything coming to Deltona
High School.
Some freshman have different outlooks on where they stand and what they are
nervous about throughout the school year. Some much more laid back an confident than
others and some not so much.
