After a disappointing loss in the State Championship, the James Monroe Yellow Jackets have not stopped working for next season. From winter weightlifting to spring passing league, the Jackets are working hard to get back to where they were last season.

    Some athletes used winter sports to stay in shape. Rising Seniors Julian Bumbrey, Tony Scott, and Marcus Finnie used basketball, while Scott Allison used swimming to help stay in shape for football.

    Other athletes, like captain Eric Nelson, haven’t taken advantage of winter or spring sports, but have instead used the weight room and other various workout methods to help get ready and stay in shape for football season.

    Now in the spring, the Jacket’s football athletes are taking advantage of track to get ready for football season. Rising seniors Darryl Dyson, Matt Forjan, Julian Bumbrey, and many others are running or jumping to help get faster and improve upon their athletic abilities.

    The biggest of all off-season systems is the James Monroe passing league. Led by Eric Nelson, She’Mar Ellis, and Julian Bumbrey, the Jackets went undefeated in their first three games at the Colonial Fordge passing tournament. The Jackets will continue to participate in the Colonial Fordge passing league, and will participate in a Stafford tournament and host a tournament at Maury later this spring.

    The Jackets will continue weight lifting and working out in order to get back to Liberty University again next season.
