After a district-opening loss to upstart Gatesville, the La Vega boys were told on no uncertain terms to win the rest, and they responded in dramatic fashion by pulling away from the Cadets steadily behind another solid effort by senior post Jordan Glynn with 16 points, followed by Michael Bigelow with nine, as the Pirates held the high-scoring Cadets to three points each in the opening and third quarters in a 47-35 win.

In the preceding JV action, the Pirates scored eight in overtime to put away Connally, 55-47 as Daxton Swanson and Timmy Kemp each scored 11.

In the freshmen game, the Baby Pirates won easily, 40-28, behind Garrett Nunley's 11 points, and Caleb Hobbs with 10.

Against China Spring Tuesday, the Pirates scored early and often in thrashing the Cougars, 58-33, behind Glynn's 21; Danzel Wilson and Earl Stinnett gave strong support with 10 each.

Before the varsity game, the Pirate JV edged China Spring, 47-43, with Swanson and Kemp each scoring 13 and Korey Moore 11.

In the frosh matchup, La Vega won 58-23 Spring with Hobbs topping the team with 14, followed by Jarvis Gaines with 12, Nunley 11, and Melvin Allen 10.

All three squads play host to the Robinson Rockets with the freshmen beginning at 5 p.m.
