In its district opener at Lorena Oct. 6, the JV football team answered the Leopards' first-quarter touchdown with one of its own as Danquise Dixon broke loose on a 75-yard run in the second quarter, but the conversion failed, and the home team scored again in the third quarter and ran for the two-pointer before Kevin Sanders ran 60 yards for the second Modoc TD shortly afterward, but the extra-point run failed, leaving the Pirates with a three-point deficit.

Lorena added two insurance scores before Sanders hit paydirt from 25 yards out in the final stanza, and Alton Hawkins added a two-point run for the final 28-20 score in favor of the Leopards.

In their game, the LV frosh also saw Lorena hit the scoreboard first in the opening quarter, but they rebounded with three consecutive TDs, two by Phillip Roper and one by Demarquis Sheppard, with Xaiver Pearson adding two conversion runs and Jason Anderson one to help the team withstand a final Leopard score and conversion in the final quarter to emerge victorious, 24-16.

Both teams continue district play Oct. 13 at home vs. Connally with the freshmen starting at 5:30 p.m.
