At age sixteen, most people are worrying about acne or when their next paycheck is coming from their after school job, but not Soulja Boy. Soulja Boy already has his own album out, souljaboytellem.com, not to mention a hit single that’s blaring through everybody’s headphones. Like many other artists, Soulja Boy’s CD reflects experiences he’s had, such as in the song “Report Card,” which is a song about receiving poor grades in school. If you’re familiar with Rich Boy’s single “Throw Some D’s,” then you’ll recognize some of the lyrics such as, “I just got my report card looked at it all F’s took it to the teacher desk (Throw Some D’s On That).” Another hit song, “Soulja Girl,” has a fun beat and gets you moving. The lyrics are also interesting and encourage you to dance, such as when Soulja Boy sings, “You gotta step like this to be a Soulja Girl.” Of course, there’s the ever popular hit single, “Crank That,” which has many people dancing “The Crank Dat Soulja Boy.” Soulja Boy is a refreshing new artist for rap listeners.
