Senior year brings exciting prospects

I am strange. Well, according to my brother and his friends I am strange. Every year I look forward to my school books coming in the mail and school starting and apparently that is strange.

This year I found out that book shipments began going out at the beginning of August and from that moment I was on the lookout for the big brown UPS truck that was going to bring me my books. And I waited, and waited, and waited.

Then, one day a few weeks later while I was at work a box came. “Yay!” I thought, my books are finally here! So I got home, ran in the door, and who is the box addressed to? My brother! It was very depressing.

When my books finally did come, like two weeks later, I was elated! Luckily, my brother’s best friend was at my house when they came, and he got to see me in my crazy glory. And trust me, I was crazy! Everyone pretty much stood back around me and watched as I tore through the box finding all my new books, it was so exciting!

When the first day of school finally rolled around I wasn’t depressed as I usually am on the first day of school, I was excited! And a little sad at the same time, it was the last time that I would wake up at home, in my own bed for the first day of school.

I still am not sure if I am happy or sad that this is my lat year of high school. It feels weird that it is all going to be over with this year. Exciting, but really strange. I have been counting how many school days left since the end of last year. Right now, there are 170 school days left in my high school career.

Once the year really gets into full swing is when the fun starts. I love my classes this year and I cannot wait to really get into them. In November I am going to New Orleans with my best friend Heidi (shout out, holla!) for the after Katrina rebuilding trip. Over spring break I am hoping to go to Panama with the Leadership class for a service learning trip. Next summer I am going to the UK, Ireland and Scotland with the People to People program.

So, as you can tell, it will be a busy year for me, but exciting as well and I cant wait!
