Robert being Robert
Robert, the New School's new geometry teacher, was born in Massachusetts and is engaged. His hobbies are playing the trumpet, and handyman work. His favorite place in the whole wide world is Jerusalem because of his Judaism. The last school Robert worked at was The Academy of Strategic Learning. He left because he needed a change of scenery. Robert pursued his career here after meeting with John Potter and checking out the school’s website. His experience at the New School has been good. His grandmother was the person who inspired him to teach.

Robert’s favorite subjects in high school and college were math, science, philosophy and religion. Some good memories of being in high school for him were performing in school musicals. High school shaped Robert into being the person he is today by helping him to gain confidence and learn to not care what people think of him. In his senior year he became popular and started an occopello group. Robert would like to have a better internet connection at the New School and wants his own room to teach in. His advice for teenagers who want to be teachers is to get certified as a teacher in college because it so much easier than getting certified after college.

Extra: I sat in on Robert’s geometry class during B Module and wrote down what I thought of his teaching method. Here are a few of my observations:

Robert is very specific regarding what he expects of homework, tests and quizzes. He offers his help 24/7 and seems to enjoy the students and in turn they seem to enjoy him. He knows exactly how to draw the fine line between teaching and having fun. Also he knows how to balance those two things so the kids are able to work in an environment that is educational but fun. I only sat in for a few minutes but it seemed to me that Robert knows what he is doing. He is very direct and the kids as I observed seem to be very fond of him. The way he interacts with the students is by having a sense of humor with a hint of sarcasm which seems to make the class always refreshing. Keep Up the Good Work Robert!
