Softball Varsity Girls - Jasmine Muro
Softball at Leuzinger has drastically improved this year. Last year, the team had a mediocre season but struggled most of the time. Based on learning experiences from last years season, this year the Lady Olympians plan to bring it on! Even though last year wasn’t the best, this year the team plans to challenge all competition with hard work and determination.
Junior Yessenia Vazquez, new to the softball team explained that she liked playing softball because she’s not just sitting down doing nothing, but she’s actually up and exercising and also interacting with other girls. “Next year playing softball, I see myself being good and being faster without someone telling me where to throw the ball,” she said.
Sydney Rodriguez, a senior varsity short-stop, said that through the past years of her playing softball she has seen more girls becoming really committed and improved so much from when they started. “Half of the girls that come out can’t even throw a ball or catch one but by the end of the season they are a starting player” she said. Since the last year of playing, Sydney said she hopes that this year will be better than her last four years of playing. She has never played with girls so dedicated and knows that this year will be a lot different.
The season will begin in February and hopefully with the skills that the junior varsity and varsity have now, the Lady Olymians will continue to increase their skill and have winning seasons year after year.
