While February 12 may just be another day off school for most students, for about a quarter of the student population it represents a milestone towards adulthood: the first trip to the voting booth. Or it may just be another day off school for those people as well.

However, The Prowler would like to encourage all eligible students—those born before November 4, 1990—to do their civic duty. Take a break from the couch or from that irritating Crime and Punishment paper and head to the local polling place this Tuesday and vote in the primary election.

Political action isn’t reserved for the 18-year olds though. For students who aren’t eligible to vote, they can always volunteer for candidates they support or join the Montgomery County Student Government Political Action Committee, which is mentioned in our front page story.

Whether voting or volunteering, engaging in politics offers a voice for students—one which may be often overlooked by candidates if students don't put forth their opinion.
