Graduation is nearing and over one third of the seniors have not completed their student service learning hour’s requirement.

There is a drop box in the main office where SSL forms can be submitted. Students who earn 260 SSL hours receive a purple tassel for graduation, so it does not hurt to do as much community service as possible.
Of the 446 seniors, a significant have already lost their lunch passes by not having three-quarters of their hours completed. There are also students who have completely excelled in community service; one such senior has about 1855.5 hours.
Joseph Wheeler is graduating with the most hours in the entire school. Consistently volunteering at the Shady Grove Nursing Home and rehabilitation center, Wheeler has had some life changing experiences during his volunteer work. “I practically grew up there, the residents have become like family to me,” added Wheeler.
Community Service is a great way to give back to the community, so seniors get on to the website and listen up for more SSL opportunities, to complete those 60 hours.
