Kathryn Livingston’s 2A Creative Writing class is working on a new project! During a class debate members of the class made statements towards the question; “What is your idea of a hero?”

Many students made references to people that they believed were not heroes. Brandon Best, a Hillside New Tech Junior stated “My idea of a hero is someone who endangers them self for the good of others  much like a firefighter or a police officer, a hero is not someone who ignores others for selfish reasons.”

As well as defining their idea of a hero, the students must create their own hero and write a story for their character. Best described his character as “a genie named Abben Helina (meaning God given conscience); she was a very selfish little girl who found a genie lamp. The genie got upset with Abben because she was selfish with the things that she wished for. In turn the genie scarred her face and turned her into a genie so she could see how he felt.” Projects will be done by February, 29th.
