As the 2008 year winds down, the nominees for Winter Sports Queen are chosen.

Four of Central’s finest will be competing for the honorary title of Winter Sports Queen.

The Nominees were all given an opportunity to reflect on their experience thus far, and their feelings on how they felt about winning.

A shocked Amanda Archuletta was surprised by her nomination.

“It’s an honor to be nominated but it doesn’t really matter if I win or not, I’m just happy I got picked,” Archuletta said.

Archuletta stated her favorite experience thus far was picking out the dress.

As for Tanisha Muniz, being nominated was something she wanted to accomplish before she graduated.

“It doesn’t matter if I win, I think I’m going against a good court,” said Muniz.

Making and choosing the dress was also Muniz’s favorite part of her experience.

The third nominee, Courtney Roop was excited about her nomination. Roop’s opinion on winning was like the rest.

“It isn’t a big deal to me, I’m just happy to have been nominated,” said Roop. Getting together with all the girls and picking out the dress was Roop’s favorite experience thus far.

The fourth senior girl, Melissa Beltran was happy to be nominated by her fellow classmates.

“I don’t care so much about winning; it’s pretty equal between the girls. I’d be happy with any of us winning,” she said.

Beltran thought getting to know the other three girls was her favorite experience, and picking out the dress was fun too.

The Winter Dance will be held on January 24th,  and according to sponsor Holly Smith, a lot of effort has been going into planning the dance.

“The junior girls’ cabinet are writing a script and thinking of the theme for the dance so far,” she said.

As a Central Tradition, the junior girls put on the Winter Sports Dance and head girl Tammarah Archuletta, gave her feedback on preparing for the dance.

“We don’t get much help planning the dance, and the hardest part would have to be fundraising,” said Archuletta. “It’s hard to come up with ideas that will work.”

The girls have shown their excitement and honor for their memorable moment.

The theme for the dance and assembly this year is Las Vegas. The assembly falls on January 23rd. The wait is coming to an end, make sure you ask that special someone to share the experience with.
