The Central boys varsity basketball team must take advantage of their practice time and preseason schedule in order to have a successful season.

With very little varsity experience, with the exception of Josh Borjon, the boys need to learn to play at a faster pace.

“Our preseason is very important to us so the younger guys learn to play at the varsity level.,” said Coach Brad Ranson.

Although the team is very limited on varsity experience, Trent Thompson is quite confident in the team they have.

“I think if we play like we can we can compete and win every game,” he said.

The younger guys that have had to step up and be leaders on the varsity team know what it is going to take in order to be successful.

“If they can understand the importance of practice, it will carry over into the game,” said Ranson.

The Wildcats have a great leader in senior Josh Borjon.  He isn’t afraid to step in and lead the way this season.

“It’s new and exciting and I’m glad I have the opportunity to take that role,” said Borjon.

Coach Ranson stressed how important practice is to this team’s success..

“Based on our work ethic in practice and the players understanding of the game will determine how the season will go.  If they work hard and want to get better we’ll have a good season,” he said.

The players and Coach Ranson believe that they can have a great season.

“We’re going to surprise a lot of people.  We’re looking to go deep into the playoffs,” said Borjon.

The boys need to be able to mesh and play the game of basketball like they know how.

“We have to play hard, smart, and together,” said Thompson.

Pushing each other in practice and continuing to get better everyday will have the whole team playing at that higher level.

“If they continue to work hard in practice and are able to captivate that varsity level pace, then they will have a good league record,” said Coach Ranson.

The hard work that the boys put in at practice this season will be the key to their success.
