With a strong season record of 3-1, the boys varsity track team is prepared to go all the way to come out on top this season. Coming off an undefeated season last year, the team has high hopes to find equal success this season.
Boys varsity coach Mike Fowle is eager to see his team through another season full of victories at all their meets.
“Well, last year we went undefeated and won the Middlesex League Championship, and our goal would be to repeat that. It’s going to be tough, a lot of the teams are stronger this year,” said Fowle.
Varsity captain David Cooper remains cautiously optimistic about the status of the team, and thinks it will be difficult to live up to last year.
“We’re going to be good, I don’t know if we’ll be as good as last year. Our biggest goal is the Middlesex League Championship, and we want to beat Reading, but we need the underclassmen to step up,” said Cooper.
With only one loss in the season so far and coming off two straight wins, the boys team is confident that they have what it takes to go undefeated for the rest of the season.
Captain Phil Skerry shares the rest of his team’s enthusiasm to perform well and give it their all in every meet.
“We’re doing pretty good so far, I like the atmosphere. Personally, I really want to beat Reading again. And, I love being captain with Coop,” said Skerry.
This year’s varsity team looks to have the strength needed to come out on top this season.
“We have a good balance of returning athletes and new runners,” said Fowle.
The boys varsity team won’t shy away from anything and looks forward to a season full of challenges to overcome.
