For those of you who can’t get enough of the trendy styles of New York, Paris and Milan, you no longer have to travel far. Even if you’re on a limited budget, there’s a way to look good despite your budget woes. Maddal’s, a new fashion boutique located in our backyard, offers high fashion merchandise as well as gently used clothing at drastically reduced prices.
“It’s definitely something I think we need here in Ligonier, a shop for the younger generation,” said owner Pam Graham. She opened her store on Nov. 26 after weeks of planning, hard work and dedication.
Maddal’s, named after Pam’s two children, Alex and Madison, is located at 138 W. Main St. across from Ligonier Tavern. In addition to selling new merchandise, it is also a consignment shop. Name brand clothing from Gap to Seven can be taken to the store and, if sold, the profit will be split 50-50 between Pam and the consignee.
In addition to apparel, the store offers a wide variety of fashion jewelry, sunglasses, handbags and other accessories. Employee Kara Queer said, “The whole store really reflects Pam’s sense of style and unique decorating techniques. It reminds me of her home.”
This was not Mrs. Graham’s first venture into the business world. In addition to managing Express and County Seat stores in the past, she and her husband also own Fat Daddy’s, a local restaurant. “The beginning of any new business can be tough, but in the end the feeling of accomplishment is worth all the hard work,” Pam said.
On my first trip to the store I was pleasantly surprised with the large selection, low prices, and friendly atmosphere. Others agreed, such as customer Danielle Carns. “It’s my new favorite store. They have everything I like,” she said. Stylish bags, best sellers at Maddal’s, can be purchased for as low as $27.
Lacoste, Seven for all man kind, True Religion, Von Dutch, Juicy Couture, and Rock and Republic are just some of the many brands Maddal’s has to offer. Higher end merchandise runs slightly more in price, ranging from $75-$110.
If these prices are out of your budget, don’t count yourself out. The price on consignment apparel ranges from $3 to $50, depending on brand name and style. Maddal’s offers the ladies of the Ligonier Valley an opportunity to dress in the latest styles at a fraction of the cost as well as the chance to earn some extra spending money by recycling their clothing through the consignment shop.
Think about it: we’re making money by selling clothing to buy more clothing. What more could a girl want?
