Among the new teachers at Hillwood, a particularly interesting new addition is Mrs. Kathy Bennett, the new librarian. Even before our interview got started, I saw Mrs. Bennett helping students, and answering the questions of students who do not yet have schedules. To people who knew her as a child, it is no surprise that Mrs. Bennett became a librarian. “I’ve always wanted to be a librarian,” says Bennett. “I loved stories and libraries.” Bennett says she enjoys that students can pursue their own interests through books, magazines, and other people around them in libraries. Mrs. Bennett graduated from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and has a master’s degree in Public History at Middle Tennessee State University. She also worked in the Civil Rights Room at the Nashville Public Library where there are 1.4 million different circulating books and audio-video material on the Civil Rights movement. She has been married for 30 years and has three daughters named Nora, Jennifer, and Susanne. As a returning faculty member of Hillwood, 1996-2002, Mrs. Bennett is very excited for the new technological changes coming to our school. In addition, as for a motto to go by, “Do not ask what is the answer, ask what is my question?”
