In all of Grand Valley's wrestling history, the Hawken Invitational Tournament plaque has always eluded the grasps of the team. This year, times have changed. With a lot of skill and hard work the Grand Valley wrestling team took first place at the Hawken Invitational and won it all.

Twenty GV students have strapped on the grappers headgear this season. It is one of the largest teams the Mustangs have put together. Infused with youth and talent, the future is looking bright for Coach Paratto and his staff.
A tournament victory always has to be a team effort. Credit is due to all the wrestlers of Grand Valley that stepped into the circle last Friday and Saturday at Hawken High School. Placing sixth at the tournament was junior, Erin Bragg in the 220 pound weight class. Placing fourth at the tournament in the 113 pound weight class was freshman, Alex Marsh, also placing fourth was junior, Luke Baldwin in the 160 pound weight class.  Placing third was junior, Jason Tackas in the heavy weight class, also placing third in the 138 pound weight class was senior, Travis Pelles. Heath Martin took second place in the 120 weight class.

Congrats to the two winners of the Hawken Invitational Tournament. Junior Glenn Zaller and senior Sean Szitas both took top position on the podium. State qualifier Glenn Zaller faced Cody Ellis from PV for first place in the 195 weight class and won in overtime with a score of 10-8 earning him the gold medal. State qualifier Sean Szitas faced Joe Dimitrijevs from Brecksville for first place in the 152 weight class and won after three periods with a score of 10-2 taking first place.
Congratulations to the Grand Valley wrestling team for taking first place for the first time ever at the Hawken Invitational Tournament!
