Cheerleaders qualify to defend state title

At the Cheer Ohio Camp in July, the varsity and junior-varsity cheerleaders again qualified for the state competition next March. The freshman squad won the home dance competition and placed second in its division.


Senior Kevin Contrera was selected to participate in a nine-week internship in cardiac rehab. He worked at Marymount Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic system.


Senior Kevin LaJudice is installing a bocci court on the upper practice fields as his Eagle Scout project.


Italy was the destination of a group of Hoban students June 13-22. Twenty-four students and nine adults made the tour.


Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia gave a group of 33 Hoban students an opportunity to learn some American history June 8-13. Jason Anderson organized and led the group..


Senior Andrew Bluebond represented Hoban at Buckeye Boys State, sponsored by the American Legion at Bowling Green State University.


Senior Sasha Holsten represented Hoban at Buckeye Girls State, sponsored by the American Legion at Ashland University.


Tyrell Sutton, Class of 2005, appears on billboards in the Chicago area promoting Northwestern University's football program.


Over the summer months, improvements were made in the building. The central office has been redecorated and refurnished; four classrooms and the corridors in the Faraday wing got new carpeting; and the stairwells in that wing repainted.


School pictures will be taken of all freshmen, sophomores, juniors and teachers on Tuesday, Aug. 29.


Two JAM service retreats were held at Hoban over the summer. One was for eighth and ninth graders July 20-21 and had 72 participants, including 59 incoming freshmen. The second was for sophomores, juniors and seniors July 23-27 and had 106 participants, all Hoban students. The groups shared prayer and did Christian service at 18 volunteer sites.
