Senior Sean Leahy posts his pennant on the college acceptance's bulletin board. Leahy was accepted to Columbia University last week as well as Duke University.
With one phone call senior Sean Leahy's future was changed forever.

"It did not feel real until I was holding the letter in my hand," Leahy said.

Ranked 47th in the country, Leahy was accepted to Columbia University and received a spot on the university's varisty fencing team.

"I am pretty excited. Since I was small I wanted to go to an IV League," Leahy said.

According to Leahy, he was offered entrance to both Duke University and Columbia University.

"I chose Columbia. I have visited the campus many times and the campus is great," Leahy said. "Columbia is in the middle of New York and New York City is also right there. It's going to be fun," Leahy said.

Leahy believes that it was the combination of his 3.6 GPA and his fencing which got him in to Columbia.

"My case just shows that you don not have to have the best grades to get into the college of your choice, do something you love and you'll get in," Leahy said.

Other seniors who have applied early decision to colleges are also recieving their acceptance letters.

Senior Beth Cannon, who applied early decision to Wake Forest received her acceptance letter the day after Thanksgiving.

"I wanted to go out of state, but not really far, so North Carolina was nice. I toured [Wake Forest] and it is a small scholl, but they have a good football team," Cannon Said.

According to Cannon. not having to worry about applications and classes makes life a lot more relaxing.

Like Cannon, seniors Robby May, who will be attending Virginia Tech, agrees that a "certain weight was lifted," after recieving his acceptance letters.

Seniors have the oppertunity to make their acceptance known with the placement of a penant bearing their school's as well as their name.

Currently eleven names have been posted.
