Summer is right around the corner, and two of the most awaited movies and books are about to be released. The fifth Harry Potter movie will be released on July 13, while the seventh book to complete the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on July 21.

It has been nearly two years since the sixth Harry Potter book, called Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was released back in July 2005.Its been about a year ago since the last movie was in theatres.

In the past three books, J.K. Rowling expresses Voldemort’s inevitable wrath by the presence of the Death Eaters’ ominous sign, the “Dark Mark”, ultimately declaring Voldemort’s return. Rowling also shocked many fans with the unexpected deaths of Sirius Black and Albus Dumbledore.

It’s no surprise that all fans alike, adults and children, are antsy about the book and movie release. Especially the book that will declare the end to the Harry Potter saga since its 1997 reign.

All fans have different ideas and opinions regarding the seventh book. Opinions including; what might happen on Harry’s journey to destroy Voldemort, the loyalties of other characters, and whether Harry fill discover more clues to his past.

“I think that Harry will go through a lot of obstacles in the seventh book, and maybe he’ll discover some sort of power about himself that he didn’t even know he had,” said junior Ashley Handy.

Previously, Rowling left readers at the edge of their seats at the moment Sirius Black died. Several other twists about characters have also surfaced in the past novels which can play as important aspects in the seventh book.

For example, before Dumbledore had died, a particular twist was introduced. The notorious Draco Malfoy became torn and couldn’t kill Dumbledore, leaving fans to question where his true loyalty lies.

“I think that Malfoy will most likely stay on the dark side because he’s been a little snot-wad for a while,” said junior Ella Lam.

Additionally, Rowling has been dropping hints throughout the books about Harry’s past, leaving a huge possibility that in the final novel he’ll be discovering more clues while trying to search for the horcuxes to destroy Voldemort. Perhaps he’ll uncover clues that will finally reveal answers to his endless questions regarding his parents. However, Harry might also learn deep dark secrets or unwanted information.

“I think he will find more clues [about his past] because if he doesn’t find any more, then that would make for a [bad] ending,” said Lam.

Besides the never ending hype for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the climactic movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will cause additional anticipation for all Harry Potter fans.

With appearances of never-before-seen characters, this movie will be a sure-fire hit amongst fans.

“The actors are good at playing their characters, and because the fourth one was such a success, the fifth one will definitely be a success,” said junior Amol Nijjar.

Since the fifth book included new revelations between characters, fans are excited to watch the finished product. While some are excited to watch particular scenes, others just hope that the production staff doesn’t cut too much of the book scenes from the movie.

“I really want to see Harry kiss Cho Chang,” said Handy, “and I hope they include the scene with the flashback of Harry’s dad and Sirius when they were [younger].”

So instead of sitting around the house flipping through the channels, watch out for the anticipated releases of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows the book, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix the movie coming this July.
