With a new school year comes a new set of popular songs that will start to p*ss you off for the next six months. Who do we have on our hands?

Rihanna.

Her newest album, A Good Girl Gone Bad, was re-released this past June and is getting some serious airplay, and her videos are getting similar treatment. Rihanna began to get extremely popular after her song “Umbrella” came out last year. Since then, she’s been enjoying a successful career and gaining serious notoriety. In fact, some of her songs have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 several times. Her latest single, Disturbia, has reached this status.

The re-released album comes with more features than the original and also sports three entirely new tracks: “Disturbia,” the remixed duet with Maroon 5, “If I Never See Your Face Again,” and “Take a Bow.”

Each of these tracks has had more than their fair share of airplay and is continuing to dominate the charts. Rihanna’s success has really been on the rise since her release of A Good Girl Gone Bad in 2007. This re-released edition simply cements her place in modern music fame.



Chris Brown

Just a few years ago, if someone asked you who Chris Brown was, you’d probably not have any idea who they were talking about. Now-a-days, things have changed just a tad bit. Today, Chris Brown is associated with soulful R&B music and being the first male single act to have his debut single hit a high peak. His first album, the eponymous “Chris Brown,” debuted at #2 on the charts, making an enormous wave and solidifying his status as an R&B star.

Chris Brown began singing around age eleven, and put out his debut album, “Chris Brown,” at age sixteen. He’s been doing choreography even longer; he started around age two, and he’s kept at it ‘til this day. His style remains true to classic R&B roots, but incorporates some more contemporary techniques that set him apart from others.

One of his newer singles, “Kiss Kiss,” has been so successful that it’s reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His second album, “Exclusive,” (which features the song “Kiss Kiss”) was released last August. He’s been on the rise since the release of his debut album, and as of now, there’s no sign of him losing his grasp on the charts.

Coldplay -

The massively popular band, Coldplay, is still clinging to the charts with their huge hit “Viva La Vida.” The single is off the band’s latest album, “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.” The song has been featured in a very popular commercial by Apple.

Coldplay has been extremely popular since their album, “Parachutes.” Coldplay has been described as an alternative rock band, a soft rock band and a progressive rock band. The band has enjoyed major critical and commercial success with the majority of their albums and singles.

Coldplay hails from Britain and was formed in 1999. The band’s success has been on the rise since their formation, and they’ve enjoyed the spotlight all the way through. They’re relishing in their fifteen minutes of fame and then some.
