If anyone was to ask the average school student, “What do you consider a sport?” They would most likely say that basketball, football, or soccer fall into this category. Sports like biking, skateboarding, or any extreme sports will most likely never be mentioned. Biking and skateboarding are the hardest sports out there because they actually take years and years of practice for one to even be decent. Most pro skateboarders or bikers have been riding for fifteen to twenty years.
These sports take devotion, meaning practicing every day for six to seven hours, riding with friends, and trying hard to learn new trick. Everyone can throw or kick a ball, which just takes maybe a year of practice at which to be good. However, there are a lot of people who cannot bike or skate. There are not many people who have the drive to do it, especially if they are not getting better in a short period of time. People who try biking or skateboarding after playing basketball, football, or soccer have been known to quit quicker because they are used to quickly getting good at the sport they play. However, in biking and skateboarding, it actually takes a long time to see progress. It would be nice to give a biker a football and give a star quarterback a bike and let them learn for an hour. The biker is going to be able to throw and catch the ball while the quarterback would not be able to even bunny hop on a bike. Biking is one of the hardest sports to stick with after learning. It takes pure determination. This is why people should not say that biking is not a sport, because it is truly the hardest sport out there.
