The 2005 fall hunting season kicked off this year on November 1. The firearms deer season started on November 15. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) predicts that about 750,000 people will take about 450,000 deer this year. They want about half of the deer taken to be antler-less deer. They have even made an antler-less season in select counties. December 1 2005-January 1st is bow season. Late firearm season is for antler-less deer on private land only from December 19 2005– January 1 2006. The muzzle loading Season for Zone 1: December 2-11, Zone 2: December 9-18, and Zone 3: December 2-18.

For those of you that hunt small game, coyote season will be from July 15 2005 to April 15 2006. This season is closed in zones one and two during the firearm deer season. There is also a squirrel season in session until March 1, 2006. You can take any fox or gray squirrel during this season. You can take most small game out of season if it is damaging, or is about to damage, property.

There is also skunk, woodchuck, and crow on the small game list. If you like bird there is also a bunch of waterfowl and upland game birds to go after this fall through the spring.
