Allie Corse-Scott juggles the task of being both a coach and a biology teacher here at OHS. She is in her ninth year of diving and her third year in coaching and teaching. The dive team for this year consists of nine girls and not one single boy. A "building year" is how Corse-Scott, describes it. She predicts that about at least four or five of her divers will go to state this year.

"They have a lot of potential," Corse-Scott said.

Even though she may have multiple responsibilities, Corse-Scott makes sure that they are all equally important. She has the responsibility of her students as well as her team and she always seems to fit in time for both. One night she will be grading tests, while the next night she could be going to state with her divers.

"It’s hard being a mom, teacher, coach and a wife all at once!" Corse-Scott said.

On Mondays through Thursdays the team practices from 5-7 p.m. at Ironwood High School and on Friday they just stick to conditioning. Last year three girls went to state and she guesses that even more will go this year.

Her biology students really enjoy having her as their teacher. She does her best to make sure everyone stays on track and excels all throughout the year. If someone starts to fall behind, she makes sure to get them right back on track.

"I like her because she teaches very well and makes learning fun," said Austin Valenti, a freshman.

Her students enjoy having her as a teacher and her divers enjoy having her as a coach.

The girls have a lot of talent this season. However, for a few of them it is their first year diving, but a lot of them have been diving for a while now and some have even been in gymnastics in the past.

Corse-Scott plans on her team doing very well this year, as they have done in the past years.

At the high school that she went to in Canada, they did not have a diving team, but they did have a diving club, which she joined the second she heard about it and has been diving ever since. She also enjoys sharing all of her knowledge of diving with her team and hopes that they will use that knowledge to rise up and excel more and more each and every day.

"Time management is the key thing," Corse-Scott said.

Getting all of the work set up for the next school day along with what she is going to have the team do at practice, must be a great challenge. Even though she says it is time consuming, no matter what it always gets done on time.

She has a very challenging job, but she is good at what she does and loves doing it.
