The "Moonlight Masquerade" theme has everyone buzzing. - Amanda Ekdahl

Senior prom has been the topic on everyone’s mind since the theme; a Moonlight Masquerade was announced last month. Prom will be held Saturday, April 21 at Chase Tower, one of the largest buildings in downtown Phoenix at 201 North Central Avenue. Prom will start at 7 p.m. and go until 11 p.m.. Perfect for if you want to go out to dinner before you go to prom with your friends, or a date at Nobuo or Pizzeria Bianco, well known fine dining restaurants in downtown Phoenix. Whether or not you go to prom can be determined by who you want to go with, how much it costs, even when it is. Some people choose not to attend due to the things that happen at prom. “I will not be going to prom this year because I do not like the music or way people behave at school dances,” said Tom Sullivan, a junior. There is no doubt that STUGO puts a lot of thought into the planning of each year’s prom. “I am going to prom this year because I planned it, and I’m looking forward to seeing it succeed,” said Joe Morrison, a STUFO member and junior. Morrison thinks kids only go to prom because of how it is “Glorified in the movies.” The time is running out to get your dates, rent your tuxes and buy the dresses, but planning the night can be just as fun as the night itself. Girls from OHS often get their hair and nails done prior to the event, even pay for a specialist to do it for them. A good salon for prom related styling is Bella Donne, located right in the Safeway plaza. Even if you don’t have a date, bring your friends. Be careful on prom night, drive responsibly, and do not do things you may regret down the road. Make the night something special, because prom is a once in a lifetime thing.
