Waldron High School is undergoing changes in the staff. This comes on the heels of Shelby Eastern Schools superintendent Mr. Jameson retiring this school year.
When teachers quit or retire, it can affect the students and the way they learn. Some students get affected more than others.
“Yes, if a teacher comes in and uses a different book or curriculum, then it will take them a while to get accustomed to each other,” said Math Teacher Mr. Ahlbrand.
Students get used to the way some teachers teach so when a teacher leaves students need to learn a new way of teaching.
Principal Mr. Fehribach said, “I think it is hard on the students because they lose the teachers they get to know. When they lose a teacher, it is difficult because they have learned how the teacher teaches, and when they get a new teacher, they have to learn how they teach.”
To some students, it hurts the way they learn, but for others it does not affect them at all. Some students and teachers think that the staff members quit because of money issues or because they found another job.
“I think they [teachers] quit because they did something wrong or they found a better job,” said Junior Derek Lingerfelt.
Some teachers quit because they have found a better job.
Sophomore Noah Hinkle said, “I feel that they [teachers] have more important things to do.”
