Having a dress code is one thing people have to endure, and at Waldron High School, the rules have changed and students are unsure about it.
Some rules that many students do not follow include holey jeans, low cut tops, and sagging pants.
After being push to the limits, Principal Mr. Fehribach has enforced the rules more than ever. Last year, he started calling parents and sent students home because of their clothing, which was unacceptable for school.
“The most problems with the dress code is when school first starts and in March when the hotter days come around,” said Mr. Fehribach.
He has made one rule clearer and that is no holes in the jeans above the knee. However, he is a bit lenient since the Shelby Eastern Schools Student Handbook states, “torn or cut up pants are not permitted.”
Sophomore Jessica Doddridge stated, “I think it's [the dress code] okay, but I would like to wear pants that have holes in them if they're not big holes.”
Students have started to get used to the revised rule, but getting punished because of students who violate the dress code policy has made many unhappy.
“Most students dress appropriately, and I don't want to punish them for the four or five students that don't dress appropriately,” said Mr. Fehribach.
