Students deal with bullying: Do students know they are not alone? Embed This Article
Bullying is something students have to deal with and have to overcome everyday.

Bullying is intentionally done and is done to gain power or respect over other students. Students that get bullied have to deal with the humiliation and embarrassment everyday.

Guidance Couselor Mrs. Narwold said, “Actually there is more verbal bullying, but also body language too, such as dirty looks, cold shoulder, and excluding people from a group occurs here.”

Bullying is an issue in today’s society. There are many types of bullying such as physical, verbal. emotional, and even cyber bullying.

“Even if it's [bullying] not physical, it can be verbal and can still hurt someone's feelings,” stated Freshman Troy Gilles.

According to the Indiana Department of Education, there are three people or groups involved in a bullying act: the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The bystander is a group or even a person who is watching the bullying happen, and most of the time it's up to the bystander to step in and stop the bully.

“I really don't say anything to them mostly because I don't want the bully to say anything to me,” said Sophomore Britteny Hernandez.

When it comes to being bullied, the victim is not the only one. There are many others that are being bullied by the same person or even someone different.

“If you're being bullied, talk to an adult. It will eat them up if they [the victim] don't talk about it,” stated Narwold.
