Teens are having intercourse at a young age, and some experts believe the reason stems from the influences of what they see in movies and on the Internet.

With parents constantly working, it's harder to monitor what teens are doing. When teens hit their peak, parents only fuel it by allowing them to watch inappropriate movies for their age. Teens also have access to adult material much easier now through a friend or the Internet.

Junior Devon Atwood said, “I play video games, football, and other activities to stay away from sex.”

Older parents jokingly say "buy a chastity belt" while others have gone to isolating teens from the opposite sex. When teens are at school, they interact with students older than they are, and this can also be a big influence. The older students may put a lot of pressure on students.

Health Teacher Mr. Martin said, “ As long as you're free to make bad choices, teens are going to make some bad ones.”

Even though younger high school students can be isolated from the older students, the older students should try to have a higher level of maturity than that of the younger ones.

Nurse Jackie Tanner said, “It is impossible in our society to keep our teens from seeing or doing certain things."

Caption: Couples typically express their feelings toward one another. This is seen in many schools throughout the day. It is nearly impossible to keep tabs on teens and what they are doing and even what they are viewing on the Internet. Small and large schools alike have the same problems but just don't know how to solve them. Photo taken by Kyle Stevens
