Chisholm kicked off, bringing the game to a start with #2, Freshman Brian Yenor, on the return to the Chisholm 31 yard line. The Maroons steadily moved the ball, getting two first downs and ending on the Maroons 43 yard line. The ball was in Chisholm’s possession for only two downs when the Maroons got the ball back and drove it to the 16 yard line. They moved the ball only two yards, but then holding was called on the Maroons with a ten yard penalty, moving them back to the 24.
Chisholm intercepted and was tackled by #1, Junior David Collins, on the 35. Chisholm progressed to the 47 where they had an incomplete pass. The Maroons got the ball on the 28 yard line, but Chisholm got it back after the Maroons fumbled the ball. The quarter ended with the Longhorns on the Maroon 12 yard line.
The Longhorns gained three yards on the second down and seven to go on the nine yard line. They tried to pass again, but it was incomplete for the fourth down and the ball was in the Maroon’s possession again. The Maroons started on the five yard line with #2, Yenor, on the carry to the right side for third down and four to go on the 11 yard line. They then only progressed one yard.
Chisholm regained the ball on the 39 yard line and had two incomplete passes then a signal penalty against them. The Maroons started the ball on Chisholm’s 46 yard line. The pass was complete to #40, Senior Tylor West, for second down and two to go. The Maroons didn’t make any more progress and ended with only one yard to go on the fourth down.
Chisholm had the ball on the 37 with a flag on Perry for illegal block below the waist, which moved them to the Perry 42 yard line. Chisholm moved the ball for two first downs to the 19 yard line, but got stuck at the16.
The Maroons got the ball on the 28 yard line with a flag on Chisholm for a face mask penalty. The ball moved to the 34 yard line. There was a personal foul on Chisholm with a 15 yard penalty, giving the Maroons an automatic first down and ten. A pass to #42, Sophomore Brayley Running, was complete for another first down and ten. The ball was then intercepted by Chisholm at the end of the half.
The second half was kicked off by #10, Senior Nathan Schwant, on the 40 yard line. The longhorns caught it on their 26 yard line and drove it to the 45 for a first down. Chisholm was on a role and advanced for the first touch down of the night.
Chisholm then kicked the ball with #40, West, on the return. The Maroons fought for yards, but their pass was intercepted. However, Perry quickly got the ball back. A flag for face mask gave Perry a ten yard penalty and possession was quickly given back to Chisholm.
The Maroons held the Longhorns with tackles by #57, Senior Jesse Tearney and #25, Brad Yenor. The quarter ended with Perry zero, Chisholm six.
The fourth quarter’s punt was intercepted by #10, Schwandt. Perry gained yards and on the fourth down had only five yards to go, but the pass was called incomplete. Due to all the booing and the coaches red faces, not to mention the fact that the ball was in our players hands and not on the ground, the pass seemed complete, but the referees stuck to their call.
Defense was still fighting, but not hard enough to stop the Longhorns from gaining another touchdown. Their kick was good, which made the score Perry zero, Chisholm 13.
Perry was back on offense, but time was running thin. The Maroons fought hard for yards, but didn’t make it far enough before the final buzzer and ending the game with the final score Perry zero, Chisholm 13.
