Quiz bowl teams will compete in their final tournament April 2 at West Central.

Last Monday BV hosted a tournament that had been postponed from last month. Seniors Joel Andrews, Andrew Bakke, Drew Jackson and Max Johnson’s team placed fourth. Juniors Mia Lundin, A.J. Parry, Andy Pedersen and Joanna Rodenborn finished fifth out of 18 teams.

Adviser Brenda Waterbury considered the tournament a success.

“We got into the semifinal rounds and had two teams finish in the top five,” she said.

Last Tuesday, BV brought two teams to Parker. Seniors Joel Andrews, Max Johnson; juniors A.J. Parry and Andy Pedersen placed third. Juniors Alaine Silvera, Mary Sutton-Smith and freshman Pierce Staab were fifth.

Teams were in nine rounds instead of six.

“There were some tough teams,” Waterbury said. “I was proud that neither of our teams quit trying. There were some very close rounds.”

Quiz bowl members placed in every tournament this year.

“We’ve qualified for a national tournament for six years in a row,” Waterbury said. “We are in the process of deciding whether or not to hold fundraising events in order to attend.”

Nationals will be at three different locations: San Antonio, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Orlando, Fla.
