Hallelujah holla back Ames High, it’s Brandon Hurley reviving the ghetto of Ames High. You know what the greatest reality show during my four years of high school has been? It definitely was The White Rapper on VH1 and it was a classic. If you didn’t see it, you missed out on one of the best reality shows in a while.
But enough of the talk about reality shows. Don’t get me wrong, I love reality shows, but this is not the place for them. This is journalism, not realityism, and white rappers are just funny. That’s that. A lot has changed during my stay at Ames High; I have floated around like a butterfly and stung like a bee. I have become too lazy to shave on a regular basis and I look like a scrub, but at least I have the decency to shower every day. I have witnessed many life-threatening incidents, like a few years ago when the beast of a man, T-LO, got into a fight in the cafeteria. I was seriously frightened and I did not know if anyone was going to stop his rampage, but the janitor eventually took him down. That was great, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an instant classic fight on ESPN.
Probably the most exciting part of Ames High for me has been going to the football games on Friday nights. I loved the atmosphere in the crowd, because I was hanging out with my friends and showing strong school spirit. The game that I will remember forever is when we beat Ankeny in overtime last year. We swarmed the field after we won and it was very intense and an awesome experience. I also enjoyed seeing senior Jason Marrs caress a little white ball down the middle of the fairway. He added an eloquent finesse to the game of golf at Ames High.
If you are a young freshmen hating high school right now, trust me, it will get better. As the years go on, you will gain a greater appreciation for yourself and others. Just take advantage of great opportunities and have all the fun you can. I have had a great time going to school at Ames High and I will cherish it forever.
