“I Don’t Wanna Hear It” by Minor Threat

Father of great straight-edge punk, Minor Threat only needs one minute and 14 seconds to express truthful insight, which must be listened to at max volume.

“Banshee Beat” by Animal Collective

You’ll be a better person after you listen to this track. Extremely instrumental and extremely calming, it carries a soothing tone throughout. If you don’t love this song the first time you hear it, I’ll eat my hat.

“Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” by Jimi Hendrix Experience

Maybe it’s just my undying love for Jimi Hendrix, but I can’t recommend this song any harder. Hendrix will always be the guitar God; this song just proves it even further.

“Code Blue” by T.S.O.L.

Sure, it may be offensive, disgusting, creepy and disturbing, but it doesn’t make it any less of a great song. Just don’t let anyone catch you singing it.

“Don’t Leave Me Now” by Pink Floyd

Starting off dark, eerie and expressive then building its way up to Pink Floyd’s best guitar solo, it will forever change your standards of truly great music.

“River Euphratesby The Pixies

The Pixies combine punk, surf rock, grunge and off-beat subjects in such a remarkable way. It never gets old.

“Converting Vegetarians” by Infected Mushroom

This song is weird and intense. I can guarantee that you’ve never heard anything like it before. Nor will you ever hear anything like it again.

“Since I’ve Been Loving You” by Led Zeppelin

Smooth and classic. My favorite from Zeppelin.

“Where Did You Sleep Last Night (unplugged)” by Nirvana

First airing on MTV in 1993, “MTV Unplugged in New York” is a live album from Nirvana. Kurt Cobain’s beautifully raw voice can be felt throughout the entire song.

“You Can’t Bring Me Down” by Suicidal Tendencies

Listen to this while walking down the halls of your overcrowded public high school. It’ll change you for the better.
